A
City and School
New
Haven is a K-12 school that will be central to the activities in
a small city that will be incorporated with the same name! The school
will enroll abused, abandoned, and at-risk children and will demonstrate,
that, with the right curriculum and care, even severely abused children
can succeed.
Other
education programs have tried to do the same, but increases in displine
and accountability alone, have not fully translated into academic
success for those truly from the most at-risk demographics. TGOL
and adopting the behaviors that flow from it will be key to New
Haven students' successes.
New
Haven will become a sanctuary and safe haven for graduates. Many
will return as adult voluneteers or staff to help a new generation
of students.
There
will be a great sum of revenue generated by New Haven, but it will
go back to support the aims of New Haven.
All
revenue generated will be needed to maintain the excellence care
students receive. Extensively screened teachers, mentors (married
couples who are living in the affilated city for a specified period
of time) and volunteers will regular interact with and be paired
off with students, helping to center and mature their character.
What
is the school's purpose?
Short
term: To heal the emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual
damage done to abused, abandoned and neglected children. HTWF will
take children whose abuses often sentence them to a life filled
with crime and drugs, and will reverse trends and demostrate that
with the proper attention, guidance and the right educational philosphy,
such kids can perform well above expectations.
Long
term: When you take thousands of children that will grow up into
a society in which they will contribute to many of it's problems,
such as poverty, welfare, moral decay, crime, abuse, etc...simply
by being a product of their environment and lack of education and
love as a child, and, instead, put them into an environment of love,
security, support, education, fantasy, fun and righteousness ......
you will have those children no longer contributing to the problems
of the world, but to its solutions. As a result, eventually great
progress can be made toward much loftier goals such as peace on
Earth.

What
programs or services are offered?
Character
Growth: It will be a regular part of the New Haven's curriculum
to promote and teach character growth. Besides the various character
courses, all the staff and activity within the city will center
around progressing virtue and vilifying poor character.
From
actually teaching the various virtues and how to improve them, to
having fun service projects and emphasizing character in all recreational
and academic activities, character improvement will be emphasized,
practiced and will become second nature to students, teachers and
city mentors.
Recreation:
There will be an enclosed amphitheater, that seats tens of thousands
of people, with facilities to house an olympic-sized pool, a recreation
building, a baseball/football field, gymnasium, theater and music/dance
concert hall and festival facility. Field trips all over the world
will be a source of hands-on education and wholesome fun will be
actively encouraged.
Academics:
One of New Haven's major goals is to excel students who, because
of their backgrounds, are statisically given little hope of achieving
academic success or settling into fulfilling careers. The best of
the world's teachers will be called and trained for a lengthy time
in the processes of how to teach with character improvement goals
incorporated into their curriculum.
Strict
school guidelines that do not allow students to move to the next
grade without attaining a mastery over materials from their current
grade will be rigourously enforced. Struggling
students will receive tons of help to remedy shortcomings.
All
the basic academic courses will be offered, along with an outstanding
and wide-ranging curriculum. Courses as diverse as calligraphy,
ettiquette, fencing and horticulture will be offered students.
Sex
education: Classes will be taught to older students. Negative
effects of premarital sex (venereal disease, ill-trained parents,
unwanted pregnancies) will be explained emphatically, based on the
idea that sexual integrity leads to lasting happiness. Also, every
older graduate will receive parenting courses on how to skillfully
raise emotionally mature children.
World
religion classes: Students will be taught the basics of all
religions and will take field trips to foreign countries to broaden
their understanding of those religions, to see HTWF's humanitarian
efforts abroad, and to explore the richness and diversity of other
cultures. No particular religion will be imposed on students or
taught as a default.
|

Humanities:
Every form of music, dance and art classes will be offered
and will be of no small renown. The theaters in the school and
city will host plays and concerts. Many of these performances
will be professionally choregraphed and filmed and ultimately
posted to the web. Students
will be required to learn a musical instrument and/or to learn
a foreign language.
Post
High School Financing: New Haven will take on the role of
a financier for children seeking to pursue traditional university
pursuits (including two-year and online coursework), humanitarian
pursuits (HTWF intiative appreticeships abroad and volunteer work
with other charities or the Peace Corp., etc.), and religious
pursuits (seminaries, monasteries, missionary service, etc.).

Environmental
Affirmations: Positive affirmations in the form of art, quotes,
etc. will be on the walls and in the courtyards of the school.
These will elevate the lives and discourse students and staff
and act as a reminder of the kinds of lives they should live.
Who
is our market?
At-risk
children. Those who are quietly labeled "beyond hope."
What
teaching methods will be used there?
New
Haven will be strictly about learning and character development.
Various methods that have a proven track record of success will
be borrowed from various educational methodologies and practices.
We are behavior and results driven, regularly assess teacher and
student performance, and quickly make adjustments when confronted
with substandard results. Teachers at New Haven will be paid very
well and those that do not deliver results will be let go.
